  • The auditory canal has a hairy skin and glands that secrete ear wax.
  • The tympanic membrane is located in between the middle ear and the inner ear
  • The inner ear has three small bones named, malleus, incus, and stapes.
  • There are movable joints between malleus, incus, and stapes.
  • The inner ear has two openings called oval window and round window.
  • The oval window is covered by the stapes.
  • The round window is covered by a thin fibrous layer.
  • The oval window and the round window are present in lateral walls of the vestibule.
  • A long tube named the eustachian tube connects the middle ear to the pharynx.
  • The inner ear has three main regions, they are, vestibule, semi-circular canals, and cochlea.
  • Vestibule contains two membranous sacs called utricle and saccule.
  • Cochlea has three compartments they are upper vestibular canal, lower tympanic canal and middle cochlear duct which is a small canal that separates the upper and lower canals.
  • The Corti is found in the floor of the cochlear duct.
